OSE patch for SLIC support?

Post by DKane »

I have been using PUEL up till now, but I think I can live without USB support and RDP, if what I have read is true.

The current PUEL and OSE support DMI strings, which are useful for pre-activating a Windows XP guest. I admit that I have a custom ISO for that purpose, but in my defence, I do have an XP license from ages ago that I wasn't using...

Anyway, I have a Vista license, it explcitly allows installation on a VM. Now, I could faff around with COA keys, or loaders, but I heard that some wise coder has devised a patch to the OSE code that allows insertion of a SLIC table. Is this true? If so, where would I get it?

Don't worry, I know how to compile code, I can deal with code diffs, I just need to know where the patch is, because I'm not a good enough coder to do it myself.
