I Just can't figure this out....

Post by ravendizzle »

I'm using VirtualBox 3.0.10 on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.

I have virtual machines for Windows 7 Pro x64, Ubuntu Karmic x86, and Windows XP SP3 x86.

I only run one at a time, and have 3d acceleration enabled on all of them....I've even installed the virtualbox drivers etc, and 3D acceleration just will not work on any of them.

My hardware is as follows:
AMD Phenom II 945 3.4 ghz Quad
8GB DDR2 1033mhz RAM
ATI Radeon HD4870 512mb GDDR5

I have the 3D enabled and turned up to 128mb...and it just doesn't work.
What am I doing wrong?

For the Windows VMs, are you sure you installed the GA in safe mode?
For the Linux VM, are you sure you have some mesa packages installed? You need libgl1-mesa-dri and libgl1-mesa-glx. It's also useful to install mesa-utils so you have glxgears to test the 3D options.
