Hello,
I've got a problem after installation of VirtualBox on a Win7 Host. Everything works like a charm until I send the Host into standby. After reactivation the network connection is no longer available, I've got to "repair" it using the win7 Network diagnostics. This Tool states that it repaired an "invalid Network Configuration" without further details.
This behaiviour does not change when using fixed IP Address instead of DHCP.
Deinstallation of VirtualBox "solves" the Problem.
Any suggestions?

That is not an uncommon problem on Win 7 even without VirtualBox. You will find heaps of similar problems in the Win 7 forums.
It is almost always a driver problem. See if you can find a newer version of the Win 7 NIC driver.

BillG,
I'm sorry, but the cause is in this case definitly VirtualBox.
No issues before installation, problem after installation, no problem after deinstallation.
The facts are: No Problem using VirtualPC, no problem using VMWare, but a problem after VirtualBox installation.

Re: Vbox breaks Win 7 host network after standby
I agree with Michael.
this is problem of virtualbox's drivers only!
EDIT Nov 11,09
an upgrade to the latest (Oct, 2009) nvidia nforce drivers fixed the problem.
So sorry, no problem of virtuarbox.
Mea culpa...

Re: Vbox breaks Win 7 host network after standby
Not really. You may only see the problem when you install VirtualBox, but the problem is with the NIC driver. The VBox network software has to work with the NIC driver to allow a vm to use the physical NIC. This is usually seamless, but problems can occur if two don't work together well. You see the same problems with VPC's Virtual Machine Network Services.
The fix is to upgrade the NIC driver.
