VD: error opening image file with (VERR_ACCESS_DENIED)

Can anyone help, I seem to have a fairly basic problem at an early stage.

I have followed through the 'guide', created the rawdisk vmdk and added the rawvd user. When I enter VBox I receive a warning about the disk being inaccessible with an option to check the disk.

When I follow this check I get a message stating that the UUID of the vmdk 'hard disk' does not match the value held in the media registry (VirtualBox.xml).

So, from within VBox-Settings I detached and deleted the disk shown, and then tried to add it again. On selecting the vmdk disk in the Virtual Media manager I receive an error message that states that VBox failed to open the hard disk (the vmdk file), that it could not open the hard disk, and then displaying:
VD: error opening image file with (VERR_ACCESS_DENIED).

Temporarily for now, I have 666 permissions on /dev/sda1 and on the vmdk files (rawdisk.vmdk and rawdisk-pt.vmdk).

Thanks in advance,
