USB devices crash Windows guest
I am running 32 bit Windows Vista on 64 bit Vbox on 64 bit Ubuntu 8.04. I can connect and use USB devices like my cell phone or Timex Datalink watch but when I disconnect them the Windows VM crashes.

Did you simply unplug them or did you go through the safe removal icon and remove them from there first?

Unplug. I did not see a safe removal in Vista. Both devices, the watch and Motorola Tundra phone disconnect just fine that way on an XP laptop which is getting a little old.

In the guest, down on the lower right side near the clock you should see an icon that will let you disconnect the USB device. Then you can unplug them safely.
In native Vista it was not too big an issue to simply unplug them and as far as I remember XP was the same way. But in a VM it does seem to matter.
