Hi -
I'm running VB 3.0.10 on a Win7 AMD 64bit host. All my guest OSes crash a little ways into the boot sequence. I've reproduced this behavior with:
- an exported Win XP guest OS that I subsequently imported into my new Win7 machine - crashes with the guru
- a fresh WinXP guest OS - it crashes with the guru when the "Starting windows" message appears during install
- a DSL (kernel 2.4) linux install - it crashes after pressing enter on the boot screen (GUI freezes and I have to kill the PID)
- a fresh Vista guest OS - it crashes (I think when the GUI is starting) with the guru.
are there known issues on Win7 64bit hosts with the current rev of VB? I see the USB issues in other threads but this is worse - I can't even get an guest OS to boot. I'm starting to think maybe this is a video card issue - but I don't know. Video is Nvidia with the latest available Win7 driver package.
Thanks
RESOLVED - Win7 64bit host - all guest OSes crash

Wrong build version of VBox, re-download 3.0.10 (3.0.10-54097).

wow - that fixed it. I thought I was running the latest release - the "Help, Check for updates" option said I was up to date. Case closed! Thanks!
