Shared Folders

My host is XP Pro. For the first time I am trying Win server 2008 as a guest. I have a standard shared folder on the host which I share with the other virtual machines I am using, but I am having trouble getting Server 2008 to see it. Guest additions are installed, the server is a standalone (workgroup) with no roles assigned yet. When I go to map the network connection, the shared folder is not visible. I have selected for the server to be network aware but have not enabled any features. I am a rank newbie with 2008 and feel I must be missing something basic which I always took for granted with server 2003. Any thoughts?

Check the manual, the command is there. You need to use the command prompt to map the Shared Folders. Since Vista, the VB SF network is no longer visible in Network Places\Entire Network. Use net use x: \\vboxsvr\<sharename> -p instead. You might get the same result with the Map Network Drive from the Extra menu in Explorer.
