I have a Windows 2008 server VM that I have set 2 bridged NICs on a single NIC XP Host. It is not working properly.

Is this setup even possible? If it is what settings should I be usuing for the virtual NICs?

Thanks,
Zed

Why would you bridge the same adapter twice? Only to get more than one IP on it? Already possible if you look a bit better at the IP config.

I am trying to learn a bit about creating a Windows 2008 firewall. My knowledge is such Firewall = 2 NICs. So my host only has 1 NIC so I was trying to simulate that in my VM.

Since I posted this I have created a Smoothwall VM with the same setup. It seems to work but it is very unreliable and I can only access it on the host.

Any help along the lines of "You have your adapters set wrong in VBox" or "You are wasting your time and you really should be working with a host that has 2 NICs" would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Zed

I suggest the latter, get a second NIC. Makes it a lot easier to do things. They are very cheap anyway, it won't make you loose your house or something :P.
