Using Adobe Flash CS4 (not the player) under VirtualBox

Post by glantucan »

I'm really glad I can just do it.
But there is always a complains section.

If you try to publish a single .fla project, with no external actionscript classes, everything is fine. Slower than on windows host, of course, but not much.

But if I have several external clases, it takes more than five minutes to compile the swf.

I know this is perhaps too specific to post it here. But there is something that got my attention and may be worth mentioning it here. While other apss are slow on the windows Xp guest, you can see how the processor gets really busy using the windows task manager.

The funny thing with the flash IDE is that it is really slow and the processor doesn't even reach a 20%. I've tested this with one and two processors assigned to the guest, also with 3d acceleration on and off.
I mean, it's not like editing viedo or using aftereffects, or rendering a heavy 3d scene. It's just compiling some lines of code!
Flash player works great, even playing video or complex coded animations.

Any other flash developer having this issue?
Any ideas?

BTW, I'm using Vbox 3.0.8 under ubuntu 9.04 AMD 64, with 2 of 4 GB of RAM.

Thanks
