Regarding running virtualdub in virtualbox

I apologize for making another thread. I managed to fix an earlier problem with having the virtual machine recognizing the USB input from the device, but I have encountered another problem.
I am trying to run virtualdub with easycap as the capture device. I have the drivers installed, and virtualdub recognizes the device. However, whenever I try to set the capture device to easycap, the virtual machine freezes, not only that, it also, on certain instances, cause horrible slowdown on the host, making me have to turn the laptop off manually because I cannot reboot it otherwise. I was assuming perhaps I was allocating too much/ too little memory for the virtual machine, but after fiddling with it I didn't get different results. I'm not sure what other parameters I can work with that may adjust the problem.
Thank you for your time.
