Hi,
I want to evaulate some of the Oracle downloadable VM templates initially in my VirtualBox environment, does anyone know how to convert them?
I believe they are in a normal Xen format and I have used qemu-img to convert them from RAW to VMDK images. I created a new VirtualBox VM and set the System.vmdk to be the primary disk and the oracle_10g.vmdk to be the secondary.
When I start the VM I get the XEN boot loader, select the kernel from grub and then it comes back with "non executable binary format" (or similiar error - thisis from memory).
Any ideas?
The options I used in the qemu-img conversion was input = RAW, output = VMDK.
Many thanks
Regards
Sean

Re: Running OracleVM/Xen images
Hi Sean,
Did you get it working?
I am unable to run OracleVM and it will be nice to run OracleVM Templates on VirtualBox, but at the moment it's not working for me...
Regards,
Igor.

Re: Running OracleVM/Xen images
Hi, Stefan!
At the moment I get to work the image with hardware (ordinary) virtualized Oracle Linux
(problem was with disk conversion), next step is to fight with para-virtualized image.
As I could realise the trick will be to replace para-virtualized kernel with ordinary one.
It is not as simple as it could be, because I have no OracleVM server.
I'll drop few lines about my progress later (in progress)...
