Filenames with german umlaut ä ö ü (Ubuntu and WinXP-client)

Post by gubidubi »

I am googling now for many hours and cannot find any hint :-(
I have attached a sharedfolder to a Win XP Machine (SP3)

VBoxManage sharedfolder add xpbuero --name home --hostpath /mnt/tb02_hitachi/

Unfortunately i am not able to create any file with german umlauts, e .g. "schönetür"

The errormessage is : permission denied.

Any other filename with letters form a to z can be created without any problem.

I am using VBox 3.0.8 on Ubuntu 2.6.27-14-server.

Also an Ubuntu client "Ubuntu 9.04 - Jaunty Jackalope", does not allow to create files or folders with german umlauts on a vboxsrv-share (used via smb or cifs) share

Thx in advance.

Unfortunately nobody was able to answer my question, which was really a problem for me.

Due to the fact that my post only had a few readers, i assume i was the only one, having this sproblem.

Nevertheless, the problem has been solved with the current version "VirtualBox 3.0.10"! :D
