[Solved] Cannot remove VMWare Accelerated Adapter

Post by rykasimba »

Hi All,

I have a windows 2003 server. I have uninstalled VMWare Tools. I have removed everything from the registry I can find. I have tried to install the Intel Drivers. I have installed Vitural Box Guest Additions. No mater what I do I cannot get the VMWare Accelerated AMD PCNet Adapter to go away and there for my networking does not work. Any other suggestions out there?

Switch to the Intel adapter. Intel/PRO1000T should work out of the box.

Sasquatch,

I don't think you read his post. He is trying to remove a network adapter that was left behind by VMWare.

Probably a better suggestion for him would be to ask this question on the VMWare forums.

I did read it. The point is that his network will not work due to the default PCNet adapter selection in the VM settings and the dreaded VMWare driver for it. Using a different NIC type, like the Intel one, will solve at least one part: working network. The point of removing it is indeed more for the VMWare forums.

Try Device Manager, then select the VMware network adapter and Right-Click>Uninstall.
If it's not there to uninstall, then: set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 first.
