Error: audio in V .1.5.2 = NULL Audio Driver only

I have installed AMD VirtualBox-1.5.2 dtd 18-Oct-2007 19:10 16M on openSUSE 10.3 host with winxp guest.

I have selected Alsa Video Driver; however, when I crank up winxp I am presented with a warning to the effect:
"No audio devices could not be opened. Selecting the NULL audio backend with the consequence that no sound is audible.
Error ID......Host Audio Not Responding
severity.....Warning"

I have selected Alsa Video Driver. No matter what I select, I only get the NULL driver.

I did not have this problem with AMD VirtualBox-1.5.0.

Anyone have a fix?

Did I understand you correctly that you installed the VirtualBox-1.5.2_25433_openSUSE103-1.x86_64.rpm package from www.virtualbox.org? Could you please post the log file of your VM (main window, menu, "Machine / Show Log..."?

I've just installed the same version, 1.5.2, on my Kubuntu 6.06. I get the same error on boot, and can only use the Null audio backend to avoid the warning. I've never yet got a sound out of the XP Pro i installed. I assume ALSA would be the one i want. I've tried loading chipset & sound drivers from CD and the latest from the ASUS site but all give errors, fail or blue screen.

So i'm looking for ideas to get my sound working. I'm sure it's just something i've missed. Many thanks for any suggestions.

So, there isn't any sound. I don't now why does AC97 appear. (I've got an integrated sound card also, but it's disabled in BIOS.)
My sound card which I would like to get working is an SoundBlaster Live! 24bit. (It is working fine in the host OS.) If it matters, I have an MSI Tunercard too, which is managed by ALSA as soundcard 0.

P.S.: "Érvénytelen paraméter" is Invalid parameter in English. :D

I am having the same problem in Ubuntu 7.10. Sound did work in 1.5.0; no longer working in 1.5.2.

I have no idea how to solve this problem.
