Upgrading W7 Beta to W7 RC?

Post by robertjm »

Hi all,

Is there a way to upgrade my installed W7 Beta Guest OS to W7 RC, or do I have to create a new Guest Host and then reinstall my programs again? I looked and couldn't find any similar topics in the forums.

Thanks!

Well Robert that would be a question for Microsoft.
But from past experience you are better off installing it new.
VirtualBox really does not care since it is just the mechanism to allow installing the OS.

Thanks for the quick response Perry. I was wondering if that might be the case, but I did't know if Vbox looks for certain "hooks" in the process of opening that would get all munged up when upgrading.

Later,

Naw, they did not change the base product that much. But as I said upgrading a beta is not a good idea (and you can verify this at Microsoft) They will suggest that you remove and install a clean copy. This is to prevent you from have a sub-standard product due to left over artifacts that were not included in the next release.
