I installed an Internal PCI 56K data/fax modem into the PC. It is a HCF Coexant Rockwell/Azteck modem. Vendor ID is 127a and Driver ID is 1002 as per the lspci information gathered from the Ubuntu 9.04 host. The Vista VM device manager does not list the modem.
Is there a way for the Vista device manager to see the modem? Is is possible to install a Vista driver for this modem in the VM? Or should I re-install the Vista VM? Any suggestions or pointers will be appreciated. Thanks.

A virtual machine cannot see the PCI cards in the host machine.
If you want Internet access from the guest, use NAT.

Re: Vista VM does not detect an internal PCI HCF data/fax modem
BillG, thanks for the information! I wanted to use the modem fax feature. I was able to build and install the hcfpcimodem driver on the Ubuntu 9.04 host. However, it only enabled the 14Kbps data only for free. To enable the fax and full speed a licenses for $19.99 is required.
Since I am testing my development and work from home IT environment, I have decided to buy a Zoom 3095 USB modem which I have already tested successfully in the Vista VM as well as in the Ubuntu 9.04 host environment. I had to build the HSF modem driver from source, which I downloaded from Dell.
