Exported XP VM in Constant Reboot When Imported

I have a desktop and laptop, both running Ubuntu 9.04. Desktop has VTx, laptop doesn't. After upgrading my VB2.2 to 3.08 on desktop, all XP VM's work well. Exported two of the XP VM's, copied to laptop, installed VB3.08 and imported XP VM's. As each VM was imported it ran successfully. However, on shutdown the entered a reboot cycle which I'm now not able to get out of. Even after a restart of the whole laptop, when either VM is started, it pauses during the Windows splash loader screen, blue screens then restarts. I've tried:-
Removing VTx setting,
Switching off USB and Sound support,
Changing Network Adapter type,
Deleting the machines and recreating as new machines attached to the appropriate vdi/vmdk

I'm totally stuck.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this or how to get the VM's working on the laptop.

Cheers,

Craig
