repeatable xp32 host BSOD crashes

Post by joggel »

upgraded to virtualbox 3.0.8 on win xp 32bit host yesterday. Virtualbox with Linux 2.6 guest ran fine, but seemingly unrelated, the host started freezing (when preparing standby) and crashing (when starting Cisco VPN client) even without virtualbox being active.
After 4 blue screens in a row (yes, everytime when I started the Cisco VPN on the xp host, the host
went BSOD, even though I had not run virtualbox in between), I uninstalled virtualbox 3.0.8 and the xp host is stable again.

Most of the people that have this problem uninstall the Cisco vpn software and then reinstall it after they have installed the VBox upgrade and have fixed this problem.
