After a hardware destruction of the motherboard in my old PC, the the only thing left is the funktioning Hard Drive with XP on it. The new PC now, uses VISTA x64 and has 8 GB RAM. Since the existing Plotter and the Card Reader of the the keyboard don´t function, I decided to try Virtual box to run my old system on the new PC.
How do I´have to proceed. The old Drive is connected by USB.

Please check the P2V dual boot tutorial at the top of this forum. You have to read the manual too so you know how to modify the Linux commands to Windows commands so you're able to boot the hard drive through RAW Disk Access. Don't forget to remove the drive letter for the USB hard drive, so you won't accidently access it and cause corruption on the file system.

Another option is to create an image of the USB hard drive and restore that inside a new VM. All in all, there are a few methods you can try to boot it in the VM, but the biggest issue is the hardware differences.
