Deploying a VM sysprepped XP in a real machine

Has anyone succeeded deploying in a real machine, a Windows XP professional sysprepped in a Virtual Machine?
I've spent days trying this with several variants and can't get it done; the deployed system will freeze at first boot in the real machine.
The opposite way seems tricky too. Has anyone succeeding deploying in a virtual machine, a Windows XP professional sysprepped on a real machine?
I've sysprepped dozens of XP based systems in real machines without too much trouble, the major issues being the need to embed the newest AHCI/SATA drivers in Windows sources, or updating the HAL in the troubled machine (via sysprep.inf)...
But going from virtual to real (or the other way round) via Sysprep, that's a goal I haven't achived. Did anyone has?
Cheers,
