Deleting VM's from usb device

Post by LT72884 »

So i deleted my 5GB's of VM,s from my usb external drive. however i unmounted it and then remounted it and windows still reads it as 245GB rather than 250GB. So windows is not seeing the extra 5gb of data i just freed up.

Did you delete it or just remove the VM from inside the VBox GUI?
Can you see any data on the drive?

I first removed them from VB itself then went into the F: drive and deleted the folder i created for the VM's. I can see all the other data. This has happened to me before and i dont know if i ever fixed it.

Run a checkdisk. If you remove files from a removable drive and you just pull the USB plug, the data might not be synchronised. Always safely remove the device, it can avoid data corruption (believe me, I've seen it happen before on multiple occasions).
