virtual Fedora on win7 host - does this sound reasonable

I am new to virtualbox so I have lots of questions.
Since I will need to run both win7 and linux for different tools, etc, I would like to get a laptop to run both and switch quickly between the two OS'es. Does anyone have experience with the following scenerio?
Would like to have a primary boot in win7, and have a virtual Fedora running concurrently so I can work in both environments without having to reboot all the time. Since I would like to put this on a laptop and not worry as much, I'd like to have a 256GB SSD which I partition such that Fedora can mount the win7 partition (which I have done with a networked pair of XP & Fedora 8 boxes, so assume this can work with virtualized Fedora as well?)
Is this realistic?
Does virtualbox allow the same as I used to do when I (think I) ran Citrix to get at a unix session on a PC (at an old employer)?
Can the win7 mount the Fedora partition as well?
Where can I read dream results or horror stories of those trying to do this?
thanks for steering me in the right direction, or to the right forum.
