Is the XP the wins server?
Are they both in the same workgroup?
Are they in the same IP address range?
What about firewall?

Does that folder also exist (/media/samba). I suggest you go to a more specialized forum. We're not here to troubleshoot basic Linux <> Windows networking.

As for actually connecting to the Host, how do you do that? What are the network settings for the Guest? Maybe there is your problem (and with that, we can help you).
