Multiple .vdi files in Virtual Media Manger window...

Post by hikerguy »

Can someone explain why I see two .vdi files when I go into the Virtual Media Manager window? Are
both of these needed? I'd like to delete one of them if possible, as one is 4Gb and the other 9Gb.

Here are the .vdi (and .sav) files currently on my harddrive:

You probably have snapshots for your VM. That's what you see there.

Sasquatch, would it be safe to delete the oldest .vdi file then?

No, because data is still read from it. The only way to remove them, is to merge the data with a different snapshot.

To remove snapshots, while keeping your current state intact (AKA Merging snapshots), select each snapshot in turn and use the 'Discard Snapshot' button.

If you want to keep your current state, do not use 'Revert to Current State' and also do not use 'Discard Current Snapshot and State'.

On the other hand, if you want to throw away / revert your current state, do not use 'Discard Snapshot' and also do not use 'Discard Current Snapshot and State'.
