Hi there,
I am using VirtualBox on a Windows 7 64bit System and installed a Windows XP as a virtual Guest System. I now want to go online with the guest system, which already works. But I want also
to block the host system from going online as well. Is it possible to block the host but allowing the guest system?
I know there was a possibility by unchecking certain settings in the host system's network preferences, but I can't find it anymore.
Thank you!
Allow Guest System to go online but Host no

Re: Allow Guest System to go online but Host no
You're probably referring to the IP options of the interface. In W7, right click on the network icon and select Network Center. From there, click on the properties or details item for the interface which should give you the same dialogue as in XP where you can click on the Properties button to disable the IP protocols.
Keep in mind that doing that will result in a total disconnect from the whole network for the Host. The Guest won't be affected, if it's set for Bridged.

Re: Allow Guest System to go online but Host no
Yes, that is exactly what I want to do. When I open the properties of my network card, I get a whole bunch of settings:
Client for Microsoft Networks
Comodo Internet Security Firewall Driver
QoS-Packets
File and printer for microsoft networks
Interprotocol V6
Internetprotocol V4
E/A Driver
Answer for connectionsoverview
(Tried to translate it from German - I'm sure in an English Windows version it is somehow called differently)
What of them do I have to check off? The Virtualbox is not yet installed, because I first wanted to know if it will be possible.

You need to disable both Internet Protocol 4 and 6. That will disable all internet traffic on the Host.
