Vista host+Ubuntu and Fedora, cannot find usb device

My laptop is bought recently, with Vista Home Premium.

After installed the VB and the latest Fedora 11, I installed the Virutal box linux additions for x86 successfully.

But I cannot find usb devices in the guest system, I have already add my USB storage into the usb filter, I've tried two kinds of usb device, but failed.

When I start the guest system, the host system loss control of the usb devices that I added into the filter, but I cannt find them within the guest system.

I've tried both Ubuntu and Fedora, both failed.

What's worse, blue screen appeared several times when I start the guest system with the usb plugged in, so I have to delete them from the filter.

So, how should I configure to fix this problem? Thanks a lot. I just started to use Linux.

Is VirtualBox completely compatable with Vista? I mean, not lots of people install VB on vista, as I know.

I have found (FOR ME) that USB in Vista as host is a lost cause. I have been told that it is a fault of Vista and I have no way to prove other wise.
At one point in my experimenting I finally gave up and started sharing the USB device and that returned my sanity (at least to where it was).
I can tell you that on a Ubuntu Linux machine as host the USB works flawlessly for me. So......
As for other features I do not have a problem on the Vista host. Everything works as stated.

Thanks for the information, Perry, I guess I will have to go the hard way, with the dual boot ==
