Guest Additions /w Systemtime syncronising

Hi,
I'm Sascha using Virtualbox for it's opensourcesness and I'd like to shut down the part(Services?) of the XP GuestAdditions, that are responsible for syncronising the time with the Host system.

May the reason be System activation, testing purposes or just a little bit of strange feeling when it changes it and I see it...

Anybody has an Idea or a link where i could see wich serices that are installed?

AFAIK, there is only one service installed and it's not running. You can find the service in Computer Management / Services from Administrative Tools in Control Panel. There is a client running, the tray icon, that could be responsible for the time sync, but it's also responsible for resolution changes.

Hmm, I realize that this is a feature and not a bug, but still it would be a nice thing to turn off.

The Guest additions are not opensource as far as I remember... If you think about it, somehow the VM must be syncronizing, and it happens in a Windows Software kind of way, but i try to imagine how.

The GA are open source. You can view the source in SVN. The full installer you find in the ISO, that one isn't open source but the thing that gets installed is. If you would compile the GA manually on Windows, you would end up with the files that are needed. They choose to keep the installer part closed to protect themselves from messed up GA installers.

I... have to admit that probably I won't find the time to learn to compile software(eh, maybe someday) on windows, and I fear that some changes that the Installer makes might be the way to go, but...

I just had the idea, that to use an installation protocoller like e.g. Cleansweep, should show me, what has been done during installation, so that I could change things later.
