Updating gurb-legacy to grub2 break network o_O

Post by Debianuser »

Hi,

After upgrading grub-legacy to grub2 (grub-pc) I ran in trouble with network on the guest (Debian GNU/Linux).

Something was very odd because rebooting with grub-legacy, I was on the first step checking if grub2 was working just before upgarde-from-grub-legacy command, network was just doing fine.

Booting with grub2 shut down the network because the interface didn't receive any dhcp offer. The guest is on bridge mode so my dhcp offers its ip (at least when booting with grub-legacy).

I try to run dhclient on the guest but the interface didn't receive any response. the interface was correctly mapped (I have a udev rule that enforce the mapping) and of course work when booting with grub-legacy.

I don't know what go wrong.

Since I have update VirtualBox from 3.0.2 to 3.0.8 (and forget if I have test after that because I ran in another problem)
and try nat mode to see if VirtualBox'dhcp work and it does.

Now, I go back to brigde mode and all seems to work again when booting with grub2. So, I don't know if it's the upgrade or the mode change to nat and again bridge.

I run the command upgrade-from-grub-legacy and it 's still work.

So if anyone experience this problem or have a clue on what happen, I 'm interested.
