Mouse stutters in guest
I just created a new vm with windows xp pro sp3 as guest on a gentoo linux 2.6.30.5 host. AMD X2 3800+ (S939 no AMD-V). vbox ose 3.0.8
Everything seems great except the mouse stutters really bad when moved and doesn't respond correctly. Its like using an old mouse with a really dirty track ball. Mouse is logitech G5 usb laser mouse. Works perfectly under host. Is there something I can do to get it working properly?

Re: Mouse stutters in guest
You can try it with the GA installed, that gives you seamless mouse integration.

Re: Mouse stutters in guest
I'm sorry, what did you install too? Logitech drivers? Why would you need that? It's totally useless in the VM unless you pass the mouse to the VM through USB, which leaves the Host without a mouse. These drivers will only conflict and cause problems on the Guest.

Re: Mouse stutters in guest
I dunno, mouse didn't work --> installed logitech setpoint mouse drivers --> mouse works
Now I've got a new problem though, I just installed the guestadditions and now the mouse is stuck infinitely right clicking. I swear I read something about this somewhere but I can't find it now.
EDIT: just like this guy http://vbox.innotek.de/pipermail/vbox-u ... 04069.html

Re: Mouse stutters in guest
Was the install a clean one, or did you move the image from a different situation? Really, Windows has the drivers for it, installing any other driver will only cause problems when you install the GA.

Re: Mouse stutters in guest
Clean install, I have no idea why the logitech drivers fixed the mouse, but thats the only thing I changed and it worked no problem
I assume its now whats causing the right click issue, I'll try and remove it.

Re: Mouse stutters in guest
OK, no logitech driver + guest additions works perfectly. Without guest additions though it still needs the logitech driver for the mouse to function properly

Re: Mouse stutters in guest
How do you use the mouse exactly? Do you enable USB and put the mouse in the VM that way? That's bad practice.

Re: Mouse stutters in guest
No I didn't do anything special with the mouse or usb at all. Heck I'm using the OSE version which doesn't even have usb pass through....
All I did was install xp in a fresh vm with default settings, mouse was funky, installed drivers, mouse works. Maybe its just a fluke
The driver does however create problems once the guest additions are installed, in which case the mouse works fine anyways...
