Windows 2000 Server Guest

Hi All,

I am running Windows Server 2008 as the host and I'm trying to get Windows 2000 Server to work. When the guest has started I get the following message "At least one service or driver failed during system start up. Use event viewer to examine the event log for details."

Then when I try logging into the computer after pressing ctrl+alt+del I get the following message in both normal and safe modes, "The System cannot log you in due to the following error: The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted." When I log in no user name is defaulted in the user name field.

I have Windows Server 2008 running as another guest as well which was installed before Windows 2000 Server and it's network is working correctly. When I installed Windows 2000 Server I believe it was using network card PCNet-Fast III. I have tried using PCNet..II and Intel Pro / 1000 MT Desktop. All were used with NAT. I think it is something wrong with the network card.

TIA.

You don't say you added the VM to a domain, so I'm assuming you didn't. There is nothing wrong with the network card(s). The fact that you get the error means that an invalid entry is at the computer location. If you click on the Advanced button, you should be able to select to where you want to log on to, be it a domain or the local machine. I'm guessing that the drop down entry is empty and a selection needs to be made. This is just one of the bugs Windows still has.

This question on it's own has actually nothing to do with VB, it's a Windows bug. Just like the error you get before you can log on (Service could not be started).
