Use USB device in guest when not recognized in host

Dear Virtualbox users,

I just wanted to know if it is possible to use a USB device (i.e. in my case a scanner) in a guest (i.e. Windows XP) when this USB device is no longer recognized in the host OS (i.e. VISTA64).

Mostly its easier to make something like this to work for a Guest if the Host doesn't see it, but as with all usb devices you have to try it.
