No usb at all!

Post by antalves »

No one USB access is detected, except the USB mouse. So I can not activate neither my printer nor my joystick. What could I do?

I have Ubuntu 9.04 as host win xp as guest, over an K8N ASUS MB

USB is not supported in the OSE version. You need the PUEL version of Vbox.

After installing PUEL Device Manager can see USB. I could'nt find usbfs (see below, please)

2.3.3. USB and advanced networking support
In order to use VirtualBox's USB support, the user account under which you intend to run VirtualBox must have read and write access to the USB filesystem (usbfs).

I still can't install USB printer
Is there a path to follow, prior to use guest application?

Checked the VirtualBox FAQ? It also seems that with 3.0.8, you need to run it with an additional variable. It's discussed here before, a small search or checking a few topics in Linux Hosts will give you the answer. Something with VBOX_USB=usbfs VirtualBox from a terminal.
Read the Forum Posting Guide before opening a topic.
