3D acceleration ATI HD4500

Post by Arno »

Dear Virtualbox users,

Sorry for opening a new thread when I already asked for my problem before ...
Here is the machine configuration where the problem occur:

Processor: Intel I7
RAM: 6G
Graphic card: ATI HD4500 (I am pretty sure that the problem come from here !!) :x
Virtualbox version: 3.0.8

Host: Vista 64
Guests: Ubuntu 9.04 32bits, and 64bits (Same problem with both version)

After a clean installation of Ubuntu, I can get video effects but ... window don't disappear completely when they should. Submenus don't disappear, but stay there in a transparent fashion, until something else happens in the gui that make them go away. Moreover, it results in slowdowns that make use of Ubuntu quite impossible.

Is there any workaround :?:

Work around? Sure, don't enable the 3D effects. There is another thread with these exact symptoms in the Linux Guests, therefore I'm locking this one. Please continue here: http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=20884
