There is no 32-bit version of Server 2008 R2. This and following versions of the server OS are 64-bit only.

Windows Server 2008 != Windows Server 2008 R2 .

It is the first 64-bit only Operating System release from Microsoft.

Yeah I have server 2008 installed on my 32 bit but not R2. It does does not support 32 bit.
Read down to the system requirements of the link. I had to install R2 on my 64 bit PC.

You misread the facts that were stated here. This topic is about 2008 R2, not plain 2008 .

To anyone interested, I'm now running windows server 2008 R2 on Windows XP professional 32bit,
got VT-x enabled chipset (DG33BU) and processor (E6550) and virtualbox 3.0.10 and the hardware is not high-end with 2gb ram
so yeah, it's possible and M very happy
i should note that i got a black screen of death with error code 0x0000225 in the beginning of the installation for not enabling IO APIC..

Hi, did you try enabling IO APIC? did you try the latest VirtualBox?
