[Solved] Access to the rest of my disk

Post by slacker »

I cant find this question around so I guess is something obvious (?)

However I need to access the rest of my disk(or at least the parts I want  ). I use Linux and Virtal WinXP.

I have no network adaptors set on on config, and I have installed the guest tools (if that's relevant).

Thanks!

Then you should read the manual, chapter 4, and especially 4.6 - Shared Folders.
Read the Forum Posting Guide before opening a topic.
VirtualBox FAQ: Check this before asking questions.
Online User Manual: A must read if you want to know what we're talking about.
Howto: Install Linux Guest Additions

E.g. install guest additions site:forums.virtualbox.org

Thanks. It works..
I wasnt doing it from My Network Places (I;m not very familiar with win networking).
I was doing the cmdline "net use x:" stuff, but for the whole "/home/user" that I had declared as shared, and not a specific subfolder of it..
Actually I still dont know why it doesnt take it as a whole but since its working for the subdirs's fine

Thanks again :)

Your entire home folder is a private folder, so naturally VB will avoid full access to it. Especially since your VMs are stored there by default (~/.VirtualBox) and you could seriously damage them if you modified any files while running a VM.
