How much "base memory" should I take for WinXP guests?

Post by pstein »

When I setup a WinXP+SP3 guest:
What should I take as base memory if the host system has physically
- 2
- 3
- 4
GB memory?
I am interested not in offical statements from MS but real value in practice

My laptop has 2 GB, PC has 3 GB and I give my VMs just 512 MB. Going smooth. If you have memory to spare, and you're not going to do memory intensive things on the Host, you can up it to 1 GB. Only doable when you have at least 3 GB.
