Lost Network Connection

Hi,
Im after some advice if possible.
I recently tried the latest version of virtual box (fresh install, never installed it before) and found I had a few problems upon rebooting after the install.
I appeared to loose my main LAN connection, which I think may have been down to bridge the virtual network with the LAN, but anyway, I've temporarily chose to uninstall Virtual Box.
After the uninstall, the network drivers were successfully remove, so I rebooted and my main Lan connection still does not work.
Ive check the connection properties, and there doesnt appear to be any remaining virtual settings, but im stumped with this problem.
I then chose a system restore, to an hour prior to installing VB, this went through ok, but again, still no network connection after rebooting.
The OS is Vista Business.
Does anyone have any ideas as to whats causing the problems?
