I have three virtual machines, two linux, one haiku, on XP host. I finally gave in to the messages about the new available 3.08 version of vbox, and installed it. Now, when I try to start any VM it tells me that it cannot access the kernel module, and to make sure the kernel module has been loaded successfully. Another message box pops up w/ a status bar with the message "spawning session" but it never makes any progress. Once I click abort on the first message box about the kernel problem, another error pops up- "Failed to open a session for the virtual machine <vm name>", and "Virtual machine <vm name> hast erminated unexpectedly during startup.

Sounds like an installation failure. Try to uninstall VirtualBox (it will not delete your VMs) and then reinstall.

Re: Can't start VM's after 3.08 upgrade
Try a repair of the installation. If that doesn't work, remove VB, reboot, install VB and reboot yet again. Hopefully, it now works.
