Error using a VMWare Image

I am trying to switch form VMWare products because they take to much memory and computer power to VirtualBox.

I know that the vmdk images can be used with VB. When I select the image I get this error in the administrator:

Código Resultado: VBOX_E_IPRT_ERROR (0x80BB0005)
Componente: HardDisk
Interface: IHardDisk {62551115-83b8-4d20-925f-79e9d3c00f96}
Receptor: IVirtualBox {3f4ab53a-199b-4526-a91a-93ff62e456b8}

I am using VMware Server Version 2.0.1 Build 156745, but the image was created using Server version 1.

Thanks and Regards,
Lorenzo

It's possible Server2 saved the VMDK in it's new format and thus makes VB fail reading it properly. Does it still work on Server1?

To test that I had to uninstall the software and install the old version and that's to much for me.

Is there a image converter? Maybe I can change it to Virtual PC and then available to VB?

Lorenzo

You can try and clone the OS to an image with CloneZilla or similar (Acronis TruImage can be used too, but is a commercial version), save the image on your system and restore that image inside a VB VM to a VDI.

You can try my CloneVDI tool. As of a couple of days ago this now has the ability to convert VMDK to VDI. I'm afraid however that I know nothing about VMWare Server or whether there is anything strange about the file format - I guess you can easily find out, and let me know the result in the discussion thread (same link).
