How to: Increase my display colors and screen area.

Post by nickpro »

Hey guys.I have a vm ,host: Windows XP SP3 , guest: Windows 2000, running on VirtualBox.
My initial target was to run an old (2002) game on this vm, cause it is crashing all the time on XP.(on my previous pc on windows 2000 it was running properly).
But then i realized that the only option i have for the display colors is the ''16 Colors''.Obviously, a game cannot ran in this low analysis.
Is there any way that i can increase my display colors to 32 ??

In addition, i am looking for a way to make my vm to display in the whole screen, meaning a REAL full screen. My only area options are 640x480 and 800x600.

Thank you in advance.

You really haven't read the manual or VirtualBox FAQ, have you? You need to install the Guest Additions.
Read the Forum Posting Guide before opening a topic.
VirtualBox FAQ: Check this before asking questions.
Online User Manual: A must read if you want to know what we're talking about.
Howto: Install Linux Guest Additions
Howto: Use Shared Folders on Linux Guest
See the Tutorials and FAQ section at the top of the Forum for more guides.

E.g. install guest additions site:forums.virtualbox.org

Yes, you are absolutely right.I am not a patient person so i almost never read manuals. But before i post i looked up for a topic relative to my problem, but i didnt find one. (maybe i didn't look up enough :P)

I checked the FAQ as you suggested. It says about Guest Additions.I am gonna find them and install them. And then, unless i have another problem, i will inform you that the problem is solved.

Thanks for your answer.

Do you suggest that i install the Direct3D Support with the rest of my additions?? It says ''experimental'', thats the reason i ask.

I finally installed the addittions, including the Direct3D. But io still have some problems.

First of all, the 32-bit color option doesn't allow me to use resolution higher than 800x600, while other color options , such as 256 , allow me.

2nd, when i try to launch the game i was talking about 2 posts above, i receive 2 messages, which i attach in a .rar file.

Thank you in advance.
