Hi, is there a way to simulate connection between the host system and the virtual system using a crossover cable? I need this to help with some tests with a computer networks homework

Thanks in advance.

Did you read the Manual? Chapter 6 describes the network types that are available to VB and explains what they do. Hint: Host-Only.

I tested the host-only configuration, but a program that I was testing with a crossover cable connection between two machines, one using ubuntu 9.4 and another using ubuntu 8.10 works only if the two machines are physical. I mean, I can test that program correctly with the same configuration but only if the machines are not virtualized.
For the virtualized machine I'm using the default configurations for ubuntu except for the network that is Host Interface.
The Ubuntu 9.04 is always a physical machine that hosts the virtualized ubuntu.
Should I be doing some special configuration to enable the network?
