Best HOST SYSTEM to use with Virtualization?

Post by chuckctv »

I Have a 64-bit Dual Intel CPU x2 2.5ghz, 8 gig memory, 512meg Nvidia 8600GT video card. Vista 64bit on a 250gig hard.
I Have a 360gig Hard drive, that I want to setup with Dual Booting with the Vista Harddrrive.

What would be the best HOST OS to install as my second OS to use virtualization, that will give me all hardware support and speed/power, and use the 8gigs of memory for virtualization?????

Virtual OS (just a Idea). Would be great. A basic OS that only setsup the drivers, then makes them virtual, for all Operating Systems installed.
Obviuosly vista runs to slow to run this on, xp has a lot in the background running also, Windows 2000- might be perfect, but cant use the 8gigs of memory, linux maybe the best choice, but need input from everyone...

thanks

chuck

No one can tell you what you will be happy with. What works for me might not for you. Install some and see what meets your fancy.

Crappy approach for Desktop.

Host OS must be the OS you are mostly working with. Guests are only for some programs not running on Host-OS. And for Games DualBoot ist the best solution, if not working on Host.
