Cannot read VMDK image file

Hi, I'm using VirtualBox 3.0.6, and want to read an image file created with VMware. I following the user manual to create a new machine, and add the disk, but the guest OS cannot start. It seems to be dead, as I waited an hour, but the guest OS still could not start. I tried several times, but it did not work.
Host OS: Windows XP SP2
Guest OS: Windows XP SP3

Your topic name is misleading. It does not sound like you have a problem with reading the vmdk image, it sounds like you have a problem booting the guest.
That would be due to virtual hardware differences between the VMware VM and the VM you've created in VirtualBox. In my experience a blank screen (no activity, no error message) probably points at the IO APIC switch being set incorrectly. Ideally you also ran "MergeIDE" on the guest when it was running in VMWare, and all other VM settings you will have made as similar to the VMware VM as possible.
