Hi,
I have got an ubuntu 8.04 host | winxp sp3 guest and on a usb port a HP 3052 multifuntion printer (scaner, printer, fax).

Because the users do not like to click on devices > usb devices > HP printer everytime they need to print, i have added the usb filter for that usb device.

but everytime I run xsane on the Host OS when the guest OS is running I get a I/O error.

Is sharing the usb port supported on the software, or I found a bug.

What do you expect? Only one instance can use the hardware.

I think, the saned (Sane Network Demon) is the best solution instead of usb acccess:

ok.
I thought that is was as natural as sharing a network card. The way I fixed is to share the printer on the host system under samba, and configure a network printer.

This way only the host uses that usb port.
