Advanced System Recovery and VBox

Hello,

I'm a new user with the Virtual Box tool, and I want to test my ASR (Advanced System Recovery) Backup on a virtual host.

So I configured the host, started it with the Windows CD, entered the ASR mode (F2 key at the begining of new install), added the image of the ASR floppy disk...

Everything runs good until I get the step of choosing my backup file... I can explore the computer, but no network available...

So I tried to make a fixed size virtual disk and mount it with imdisk on my host. I can copy my backcup file but when I want to add it in virtual box... I get an error : "Could not get the storage format of the hard disk".

I also tried to use shared folders, but it seems to get unaccessible from the Windows ASR :(

Did someone know this error and how I can fix it ? Or know an other way to get my backup file to restore the system ?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Sebastien

Shared folders will not work, because you cannot install the guest additions into the Windows boot CD.
Which type of network adapter is configured for the VM? You could try to select another network adapter type if the Windows CD doesn't support the currently select adapter.
