[Solved] problem with bridge mode

Post by christian.pinedo »

Hello,

I'm unable to use bridge mode in VirtualBox PUE edition. I have tested 3.0.6 and older releases, nowadays I'm using the latest 2.2 release.

My host:
- Windows XP SP3 with latest security patches
- ethernet: Broadcom Netlink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet
- wifi: Intel Pro/Wireless 3945 ABG
(I configure bridge network to use the ethernet card)

My guests:
- I have the same problem with Linux distributions and Windows (XP, 2003) guest operative systems.

When network doesn't work I can do ping to the IP address of the bridged interface of the host OS (Windows XP) from the guest OS (Windows 2003). But I can't do ping to the IP address of the router or to another PC. The unique entry in the ARP table of the guest OS is the IP address of the bridged inteface of the host OS.

From host OS I can also do ping to guest OS and to all IP address of local network.

Today, I have reinstalled VirtualBox several times and I have tested 3.0.6, 3.0.4, 3.0.2 and 2.2.4 releases without any success. Any idea?

Thanks,

christian

Do you have a router in the network?
Sorry I see you do. Can you provide a post of the ifconfig and ipconfig /all
Also look for a Firewall problem.

I'm sorry. It was a network issue. The network interface the PC was connected to only supported two MACs and when I have more than 1 virtual machine up I had problems... Thanks,

christian
