Hello guys,

I'm kinda new to VirtualBox so please bare with me.

I have WINDOWS 7 in my computer.
I installed WINDOWS XP in my VirtualBox.

I'm trying to run this game called Helbreath under windows xp since it's an old game and gets better performance under windows XP.

Now when I try to run the game, I keep getting this error...

Image

Now I go to the vbox (win xp) > desktop > right click > properties > and under settings my monitor is set to 32bit even though it don't have the same name as the one under my windows 7.

Any help?

Edit: also as soon as I open up the game the screen shrinks no matter what resolution I got it under...and when I mouse the mouse around it, it don't show the pointer...
Edit2: if need the link for the game you can get the full installation for free from http://www.helbreathnemesis.com just in case you might need it for testing.

Install the guest additions in safe mode and reboot the guest when done.
Running games in full screen will require you to set the host resolution to the size you need and then run the game on the guest in full screen.

So set my resolution to the size I need on my computer (Windows 7) and then run the game on the VBox (WinXP) fullscreen right?

I will isntall the additions on safe mode and let you know how it goes

Thanks,

The first message can be ignored, some games or systems don't run in full 32 bit colour mode. You would get the same error if you would for example start a DOS game, which had a limit of 256 colours or something like that.

The mouse might be a problem if the GA are installed. You can fix that by temporarily disable mouse integration. Right click on the mouse icon in the status bar and disable automatic integration, or use the Machine menu.

Ok...

First of all I tried installing the additions on safe mode...

Then I tried and still the same...here's a picture so you check the settings are set to 32BIT.

And now...after disabling the MOUSE INTEGRATION as you told me...the cursor won't even move at all....

Did you bother to grab the mouse by clicking inside the VM, like you used to when you didn't have the GA installed?

Yes,

I was moving the mouse but the cursor won't even move... it might look like I wasn't moving it but trust me I was and it just stayed there at the same spot.

The main reason I'm trying to run this game under the VirtualBox (Win XP) is so I can disable de 3D Acceleration cause on Windows 7 with the latest drivers I still can't disable it...if you wonder why I wanna do that, is because the game runs a lot faster (old game).
