[BUG?] Ubuntu 9.04 AMD64 Windows XP guest BSOD after startup

Hi all,
I am using VB 3.0.6 on an Ubuntu 9.04 AMD 64 to run a Windows Server 2003, a Windows Vista Home Basic and a Windows XP machine.
I found that the XP machine stopped to work causing a BSOD about 30 seconds after the startup.
Thinking about a broke install I created a brand new machine, but it has the same malfunction.
The Vista and Windows server machine work smoothly. I am not sure if it sit caused by the latest upgrade but I reinstalled Virtualbox with no success.

I am having similar problems. Upgraded from Ubuntu 8.10 to 9.04 this weekend. I also went from VirtualBox 2.2.4 to 3.0.6. I tried running my old WinXP VM I built under 2.2.4 and it ran okay. I then found I needed to install the Guest Additions to get to a shared drive. Now the WinXP VM boots up to the Windows desktop and then simply disappears and I get an Aborted status.

Just to test this, I built a brand new Windows XP guest OS from an SP2 CD. I was able to launch this machine and navigate around XP without any problems. I did NOT install any Windows updates at this time. I then installed the Guest Additions and now my WinXP VM boots, I get the Welcome screen, I log in, then I get the Windows Desktop, and the VM machine promptly disappears and I get an Aborted status.

Something about 3.0.6 on Ubuntu 9.04 running a WinXP Guest, then adding Guest Additions, crashes the VM.

Have you installed the Guest Additions?

P.S. I'm running 64-bit Ubuntu on an i920 with 6G RAM.

yes all machines have the Guest Additions installed and a shared folder (I tried to disable it, but it had no effect).
I am running VB on a Toshiba Satellite notebook with 4 GB Ram. The fresh XP machine has been installed starting from a Windows XP SP2 disk.
My machines does not abort, they go to the BSOD after some time from the login. The safe mode is a little more stable.

I just uninstalled 3.06 and reinstalled 3.04 and my Windows guests are working again!

It seems that VBox 3.0.6 has some problems with this OS...
