Applicaton will not even install??

Post by anewhobby »

Hi there....

I am interested in moving from VMware to VirtualBox... but i can not even get the application to install. I have downloaded it a few times and even waited a few months b4 trying again as I thought maybe there was a version error or it was uploaded to the server wrong or smithing... a log shot but worth a try...

Anyway.... I still can not get it to install on Vista64. I have run normally, right clicked ran as administrator, turned off UAC and then tried it... still nothing.

I simply download the latest version and run the installer... everything seams to work... but after the bar goes all the way across it just spits out the error..... "Rolling back installation" then says

Then supplies the error

Any advise please?

<---------- EDIT
Oh i forgot to say 3.0.4 installed fine...

Have you ever had VirtualBox installed on this computer?
You mention VMWare, is it installed?
Do you have any VPN software installed on the computer?

OK I see you edited your post to include what I needed.

Things that you can do to see if you can get this installed:

1a You need to reinstall version 3.0.4 and select repair. (DO NOT reboot)
1b Run the version 3.0.4 install again and tell it to uninstall (DO NOT reboot)
1c Run the new Version 3.0.6 install and see if it works (This time reboot)
Something has been hung during the upgrade and needs to be removed. If that does not work you can try the MS uninstaller
Or even revo uninstaller
Then see if the install will work
