I've got my home workstation with Ubuntu 9.04 Desktop 64bit, with Virtualbox 3.0.6, connected to another Ubuntu Server 9.04 64bit with the iscsitarget package installed. Since connecting Virtualbox to some of the targets, I was getting slow speeds and messages (that I can't recall in dmesg). So I changed the ietd.conf MaxRecvDataSegmentLength & MaxXmitDataSegmentLength to 65536. I've noticed since then I now get a new message in dmesg.
[194845.646233] iscsi_trgt: scsi_cmnd_start(1016) Unsupported 15
[194845.646258] iscsi_trgt: cmnd_skip_pdu(454) 7 1c 15 32
Anyone familiar with that? Anything I can do to stop getting them?
Thanks.

Re: iscsitarget on ubuntu and virtualbox 3.0.6
That's a target issue. Essentially it's too much output from the iscsitgt kernel driver.
Anyway, you have a windows guest that is probing for iSCSI extentions in the target; the target doesn't have them and reports that in dmesg. I get the same in a few targets that have windows initiators:
iscsi_trgt: scsi_cmnd_start(1016) Unsupported 15
iscsi_trgt: cmnd_skip_pdu(454) 57000010 1c 15 24
iscsi_trgt: scsi_cmnd_start(1016) Unsupported 15
iscsi_trgt: cmnd_skip_pdu(454) 5a000010 1c 15 24
iscsi_trgt: scsi_cmnd_start(1016) Unsupported 15
iscsi_trgt: cmnd_skip_pdu(454) 16000010 1c 15 24
It's not VBox related, I would say.

Re: iscsitarget on ubuntu and virtualbox 3.0.6
Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if I understand what you're saying about the windows guest. The windows guest doesn't have anything iscsi installed. I'm simply using vbox to attach iscsi hard drives for guest os's. Is there any setting that I can change on the target for the "output?"
Is there is howto or recommended settings list somewhere for the iscsi-target package to function with vbox?

What I'm trying to say is that (I think) it's not VBox related. You get those messages even without VBox, right?
My targets sometimes issue those messages, and they're working fine. I always though that it's the Windows initiator, but I could be wrong.

No, I don't get it with any other initators. Windows or Linux based. I've given up on the Virtualbox initiator for now. It seems way to picky.
